Re: [CHICKENS-101] New Subject: Silkie sitting on fertilized eggs

It's best to keep them together any way, encourages your girl to heal. Where is the injury on Speckles leg? At a joint or the solid bone? Speckles should be encouraged to move around some several times a day if her cage/box is small. If it is large where they can moved around, I'd put a treat down that will make her want to stand to eat. A bit of squash or pumpkin, something high high in vitamins.

Re: my girl with a hurt leg:

Today I bought the chicken vitamins. Speckles (my hurt girl) acts like she feels fine, but still won't put any weight on her foot. I had to keep her little "sister", Sissy (a 3 week younger chick who I raised together), because they are so upset about being separated. You never hear such screeching and she wouldn't settle down. LOL. Now both are quiet in their box and eating well. I figure it couldn't hurt for Sissy to have some of Speckles vitamins and TLC as long as it kept her quiet and still.

I'll let you know how she does as time goes by.
