LOL!!!  They used to worm people twice a year; prevented many of today's health problems back then.  I wonder why do not worm adults and children anymore?  Hey Sue, Maybe we are fat because we are full of worms and the worms made our bodies make fat...:)) laughing

Good things to consider and certainly an issue. However, anything that kills worms is toxic and must be used with discrimination.

I think that your approach to take it slowly is a good idea. In the future, perhaps considering just using Ivermectin as an annual de-wormer would be more prudent. More 'bang for the buck' (so to speak) and less medication which is always a good thing.

At any rate, I hope your birds respond well and start fattening up. Maybe you should consider feeding them beer and Cheetos...? Works for me, I'm fat as a hog. Unfortunately, it appears that having worms is not an issue for me ;)
