Yes you can use a baby monitor .... we use them when it's kidding
season for the goats ...works well. Range will vary by brand and it's
best with line of sight .... going through metal will reduce the
effective range. ime of year has little effect ...unless the base unit
is outside.
Now while you may not be able to put the wire underground .... you can
flair it out and put rocks or other heavy bricks or blocks on it ...
prevents a critter from digging right at the fence ... stops most.
