Re: [CHICKENS-101] Adding a new chicken

When I add a new bird (Chicken or Duck) to my flock, I keep them in a
cage for about a week or five days, so that the others can get used to
them and not be able to hurt them or get to them. The birds in the cage
are fed separately from the ones in the flock, and after a week or five
days, they are let out into the population. They can get back into
their cage when needed. This method seems to work the best for me, with
fewer squabbles. My chickens and ducks tolerate each other and the
"head hens" will occasionally administer a sharp peck to the head or
neck if the others overstep their boundaries.
