Hi Susan: You should, if possible, keep the new bird in isolation for a few days anyway. This has to do with immunity to viruses. Bringing new chickens into a flock can be dangerous. Babies and younger chickens are less of a problem. He should be in a place where the other chickens can see and hear him. If you have another rooster you might really have a problem.
