Hi Nancy,Sorry about Chester,he is a pretty guy.I dont know if I have ever known of a "nice"RIR rooster. We have them and they get up so big and they start flogging anything.I have seen mine practice on TREES!The first one we had I had to walk out with a stick! It was picked up and ate out of our hands. Then one day...It attacked me.Then the step kids but left the cats and kittens alone(go figure).I am surprised it did not hurt your 7 pound dog worse. This one sent the neighbors boxer that chased chickens limping and howling home.It got to where I was always looking over my shoulder.I thought I would get a crazy eye trying to look behind my back...and he would follow people around the yard which creeped me out.Same way with the tom turkey.Half the time I would hear the jaws theme in my head.It was very unsettling to say the least! We rehomed him. Then I heard of old George talking about them and I just figured ours were the norm.We just cage them now with their hens. Now the meanest thing out in the yard is a pekin duck.I walk through the yard putting his head on the ground and holding him till he stops struggling. They say it works but I have seen no change in a month. He might have to become dinner! He also was soooo nice until lately.
