Sounds like heaven Beth. I agree, the best way is to use broody hens. I have done both this year because of not enough broody hens and it has worked out fine both ways and did last year too.
I just turned out six that were incubator hatched mid February and they are fine with my standard roo and five standard hens. No problems at all.
