Hardy?  Not hardly, LOL.  You have to go out and shoo them in during snow or rain.  I would recommend providing them with a complete cover over their run.  Without real feathers the rain or snow soaks into their down.  Think of them as fluffy baby chicks that grew large and never changed their fluff for feathers.  They are very sweet natured and make good little friends though.

Ok..so I have my Australorps which I love and keep these birds every year but I think I'd like to have a couple Silkie hens..I live in W. Montana so are they a hardy breed and which type would be recomended..TIA
