Good for you -
There are plenty of people who come home with a bunch of chicks then jump on this forum and ask - what do I do with them, what do I feed them, where do I put them . . . . .
Preparation and education make it more likely that you will have a happy successful experience raising chickens!

What's stopping me? Well, I'm still learning. Besides that, the shed is in my husband's scrap yard and it will have to be moved -- no small task. Today my daughters and I started clearing the area where we want to put it. We still have some brush that needs clearing there. Next, we will have to back-fill to make the area level, then my husband will have to move the shed and modify it for chickens (maybe add a window and one of those little chicken doors). Have I mentioned that my husband is not entirely enthusiastic about this whole chicken thing?
Even though I'm anxious to get the hens, it isn't something that I can jump right in on. So for now, I'm in education and prepare mode.
