It doesn't cause cannibalism , but it can give them a taste for them.I feed shells to my chickens all the time and give the extra raw eggs to my dogs. It is really good for them and makes their coats shiny. If I do need to mark them I use pencil or crayon

I guess I was smart only getting 9 chickens, with up to 5 foster kids we eat about a dozen eggs a day.
But I have been told MANY times that giving the eggs or even the shells to the hens can cause them to become cannibals.
Is this not true?
