Shannon, If a permanent marker is all I have handy in the barn when I am collecting hatching eggs, I have been known to mark colors on my eggs with it. Doesn't seem to affect the eggs.

to be politically correct use a pencil (funny) but serious people that store eggs for hatching use the pencil .
It is said that the marker will (if only marginal) effect the egg .
I don't know all this beyond a shadow of doubt but i do use a pencil ..... if i can't find one i (no i'm not going to use a marker)look some more .
That's it ,
Shannon
