Nonsense. That's not a problem. Matching sizes, ages, and personalities is. A big and dominant rooster will dominate smaller ones, not let them eat and fight with them, may kill them. He also may kill small hens while mating with them, simply because he's big, they get squashed.
A couple small chickens of any kind, especially young ones, in with a dozen or so big ones, confined in the winter, are apt to get stepped on and injured or killed, or the big ones won't let them eat or drink. It's just a dominance thing with birds.
The medicine thing is this ------if the chicks were vaccinated against Mareks Disease, don't give them medicated chick feed. The vaccine gives them a mild case, that's what vaccines do. So does the medicated chick feed, which also contains an antibiotic to fight it. The double vaccine dose can be way too much for baby chicks.
If your current chickens got wet and cold and caught a bug, new ones might come down with it too. You know, a cold germ in the house and everybody gets it, one after another. Just give them the same stuff if necessary.
Best wishes, and greetings from my very large but very laid back Marans rooster. I like Marans more and more all the time. Big as they are, they get along with the little Silkies just fine.

Around three weeks ago my chickens got wet from rain, it rained every
day for seven days. We treated them with antibiotics and has cleared up.
I heard someone tell me that once your chickens have been sick you can
never add more chickens, is this true?
