The feed is deficient in E and selenium; I'd add b complex too, to what he gives the chick. Check his date on his bag of feed.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] A new member (I hope)
I haven't posted in so long, but I do read as often as I can.
My young cousin has his first chickens ..... 8 chicks purchased as
day-olds . They are probably 4 or 5 days old by now, and two of them
seem to be having issues.
He believes one chick has an impacted crop. He's been told to get
vegetable oil in there and massage it and that sounds correct to me,
although I've never done this and it seems to me I remember hearing that
you have to tube the baby to get the oil down the correct side?
He has another that is throwing its head around wildly.
The best thing I could tell him was to join this group, that without
doubt the people here would be able to advise him better than I could.
Hoping he heeds my advice and joins .....
