Many mornings when I go out to open up the ladies, there will be one or two in a nesting box (we have 12). Often they jump out to see what goodie I brought out for them. There may not be an egg in the box yet. My question is –will they remember to go back into the box and lay their egg or do they forget??? I know that sounds silly but out of 12 hens we only get 5 or 6 eggs. One of our hens will be 5 next month and I'm sure she isn't laying anymore – the rest are from 1- 4 yrs.
