Silkie roosters and cockerels are excellent broodies and do excellent job of raising chicks. Mine even make nests, act broody sitting in the nest while making broody noises and putting bedding on their back just like hens and pullets do.

The Silkies like company. You might find more than one sitting on the same batch of eggs. Sometimes they fight about it. One gets off and the other runs to take over, the eggs NEVER cool off!
Sometimes they steal eggs to sit on. Sometimes you find 4 or 5 of them all snuggled up together in a bunch. I've even seen the rooster sitting on eggs. They are really funny! And very good at what they do!
Smiling,
Diane S.
