Thanks Jane, I do remember the routine now that is told to me, had to refresh my 50 year old memories of Mom making us breakfast on the farm we lived at - 4 of us born from 1949-54 to our WWII veteran parents... Mums family were all all lost and she emigrated to US to marry Dad...

OK This is weird. What on earth is going on about UK Jane knowing about the best way to cut top off a boiled egg ? :) LOL. What did I miss? I can't seem to find where that part of the topic came from. Do you Americans not eat boiled eggs for breaky??????????????? With your bread cut up into strips (little soldiers) to dip into the soft yolk?
We like them here in the uk & the best way to take the top off is firm tap near the top & on the side with a sharpish knife. Then grip the knife & cut into the shell holding the opposite side of the egg with the other hand. Should come off pretty clean. :) JAne & co
