I was being polite about the heat and humidity in the summer, it's hotter than hades 
and so humid that your clothes are dripping wet from sweat in the time it takes to get from the house to the car. Seriously, I couldn't breathe it was so hot and humid. I was in OK and remember seeing kudzu. I wish I could remember where we were. We traveled so much with the military and visiting cousins/family back then that some of it is a blur except for some very vivid memories.
Your little Daisy sounds adorable! You really have the magic touch with chicks to have such a tame and sweet pullet.

Naw, it doesn't get hot down here. Averages 110 or so for 30 or 40 days in the summer. And don't believe that stuff about "dry" heat. We also have pretty high humidity. Viva la Air Conditioning.
We are 9 plus inches of rain behind normal. And we have been for the past 3 years. We go months without rain.
But no Kudzu. That is all back on the East Coast as far as I know, NC, SC, Georgia. Another bit of interesting agricultural history. Brought in for cattle feed originally. Same as Johnson Grass. Brought out here to feed the cavalry's horses. Then they found out that, at certain stages of growth, it is poisonous to horses, but not to cattle.
btw, my little Orpington chick, Daisy, now meets me at the gate and comes up to me so I can scratch her chest and neck. My brother was here for the weekend and he and my SO, Judy, thinks that is neater than heck.

Bob, That's right, you are not too far from Mike and Shari. I visited relatives in OK in the summer in '78. It was so hot and humid that I could not breathe when I went outside. Is it like that where you are? I remember kudzu, acres and acres of it, the scary stuff was like out of a horror movie covering up trees and buildings.
