Valerie, I have a milk crate that is leaning up against the wall on one side and a 2x2 buried part way in the bedding on the other so if my teeny Netherlands red silkies get sick of the roosters they can hide. I've also found them hiding, hunkered down, in the dog dish on top of the tank feeders. Had to put covers on the tank feeders, (back up feeders in case they eat all of the feed I grind and mix in their troughs), because they were hiding in the feeder and using them for nests.

There are bantam Ameraucanas. John Blehm in Michigan has the most beautiful ones you have ever laid eyes on and his prices for chicks are very very reasonable.
He shows too, so the birds you get are sturdy, fertile, and genetically sound. I have seen his farm. Each color and size has their own house and outdoor pen. When he hatches he carefully controls which birds go into breeding pairs. A great set up for personality, health and sturdiness. If you ever want more little ameraucanas you could get a friend to go in with you. Their sky blue eggs are striking. :)
I felt so bad that after John me culls twice, really cheap, a huge shepherd and mixed breed dog that was it's companion ripped up my pens, got in, and killed ate my birds from him. The neighbors saw the dogs and we found fur samples. One time the dogs literally tore up old fashioned chain link covered with poultry fencing and hardware cloth around the bottom. The 2nd time the dogs tore up the wood frame of the double horse fence, 7 ft high, hardware cloth hutches made with heavy oak and wood screws The city made the owners kill the dogs because after my problems came out into the open we found out these dogs were jumping fences and killing people's dogs and cats, and toddlers couldn't be out in their own yards. John wouldn't let me buy anymore cull cheap. I don't blame him. :(

I have no clue what breed she is. She wasn't even supposed to be a banty. I was told she was an Americana and would be full size. Yeah right. She is about the color of a buff orp and does have tiny muffs by her ears. She lays a not quite white egg. She can be feisty. Not overly so though. There will be space to go under the new coop that she would fit, but I doubt the rooster would. Also inside the coop, I don't think he would be able to get into the nesting boxes. Not sure on that though. I am thinking I will have to keep a close eye on them at first and hoping that she will be alright. I won't have any place to separate her out and wouldn't want to keep her alone anyway.
