Cathryn, the biddies must have recognised the oyster shell as something they needed! Last night I did put a little in the side of their feed hopper, but also put out a pan with maybe three cups of just the oyster shell. They'd eaten about half of it by noon today, and there was only a handful left when I shut them in tonight. (Funny thing is--I mixed in some egg shells with it, and they carefully ate out the egg shells first--they certainly never went for them quite that enthusiastically before.)
Thanks for the advice!
