Let's see... We've had bobcats--I remember one following us, or rather paralleling us in the trees, when my mother and I walked home from the bus stop years ago. Black bears--tracks frequently (this fall in the mud of the road to the timber landing during the logging we had done), right outside the house (in the dooryard, and robbing the bird feeders right outside the window next to which I'm sitting--and best of all was the one who made him/herself a nice warm crater in the manure pile, apparently chewing the shovel handle as s/he went to sleep!) Coyotes everywhere (the ones here in the Northeast are actually part wolf)--I had to knock the hounds off one last Thanksgiving, and apparently one was sighted at our last cast today! Red fox--been seeing one around the area quite a bit, glad my coop is tight and that I have roos to keep watch during the day.
We MAY have cougar in New Hampshire. It's been reported fairly frequently, though the "official" stance is that it ain't so, people are just seeing things or exaggerating... But in the last year, there was one backyard video that was unmistakable, and a road kill where quite a number of other motorists saw (and photographed) the carcass before the State Police could vanish the body...
Lots of birds of prey--we even saw a pair of bald eagles overhead at one of our first hunts this fall!
Never a dull moment!
