Re: [CHICKENS-101] What should I put on my chicken coop floor?

First I would linseed oil the floor and seal it well.  Then I would put crushed barn yard lime on the floor after the linseed oil is soaked in well. Last I would put a nice thick layer of pine shavings, fluffy shavings, with a board across the door ways to keep them in.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] What should I put on my chicken coop floor?

I am a newbie to raising chickens. My husband almost has the chicken coop built, and I was wanting opinions on as to what to put on the floor of the chicken coop? The coop has a plywood bottom to keep out predators. Should I use pine shavings, hay? Something else? I have been putting shredded paper covered by pine shavings in the box for the chicks, but the time has come to move them to the coop.
Thanks so much, in advance, for all the help.
