Gina, That's good that you are moving the bait around. You might have to change brands of bait to attract rats that are shy of the bait you are putting out now. The bads news is you will not be able to let your guard down ever now.
That cat would have disappeared (to animal control)!!! Did you have to catch the cat and get it out of your pen? The domestic animals here are bad too. Usually the feral cats are the worst, they never give up.
Though there is a feral cat here that has left the birds in the cattle barn alone and plays with my cat. I'd like to catch it in a live trap, get it's shots, fixed, and let it back into the barns. I make sure it has water, food, even though it's catching mice for me. This winter I'll give it straw, a farrowing pad, electric water dish, and food. It's so afraid of people I rarely see it.

Would you believe another neighbors cat was in chasing one of my older chicks yesterday morning with the thought that he would make a nice breakfast???? I tell you, the domestic animals around here are as bad as the wild ones.
