I've used kids from the 4H group. Mostly 11 - 12 yr olds. They seem to be comfortable with the chickens and will make sure the cat is fed.They also like earning money!

Because we live in the mountains, I have lots of friends that like vacation spots -- so when we know we will be gone for a while I just send out an email to see who needs a week in the mountains!! Works everytime. I generally get the kids too --
