It costs 96.00 for 75 vantress and white mountain cockerels at Townline. I can get 100 straight run vantress and white mountain chicks for 100.00. Shipping is the same. My friend Michelle and I have a system worked out. I always start the chicks. I am going to put them in the baby barn that is right along side my garden for shoveling purposes. I will get them up to 4 weeks. She will take most to be butchered. (I am very talented w/ my feeding & having walking, 3.5-5 pounders at 4 weeks) We'll save out approx 20-25 that she will take home and get up to 23-30 lbs. It works out great. I cannot take off of school to to get them processed so she does it, plus I have the cages where I can put them up without food for 24 hours. I have the space for newborns up to 4-5 weeks. I have all my feed made up north to my specifications so it costs less to feed them.
Here's the problem, my Scottish & English soul says to go with a 100, it's 25 more chicks for $4.00. I am going to give my heart a week and see how I do. If all is fine I am going to order the chicks. If there is someone who only needs a few up to 25 and wants to get some, please let me know. They'll only be approx 1.25 each with shipping and grow gel. How is this for going nuts? 100 eating and popping machines!
