I have both but I prefer the galvanised ones as they do not break easily, but they are a lot more expensive in the u.k. Make sure you clean the water one now & again or it can bread "things"(lol) I'm not sure what type of "things" but I remember reading it somewhere, in one of my four chook books.
I do hang water in the coop in case they are thirsty, before I stroll down the muddy garden at 7 am in my wellies & dressing gown (not a great sight-lol) During the winter months I put food in too because they are spending longer in thier coop & are up well before I am. It is not recomended in books because 1) It can caues dampness & make a mess, & 2) The chooks tend to fill them with straw etc. But we all have to make our own decisions about these things on the infomation we read from books & recieve from others.
