We have had a resurgence of bed bugs around here. The best way to kill them is with heat. We were always fighting parasites when we kept horses, pigeons and other critters. All we have now are our dogs and we are able to keep them parasite free most of the time. I am wanting to get some hens in the spring. I am still trying to decide between chicks and pullets.

We are diligently fighting parasites that our alpacas and goats are susceptible to and it is an ongoing battle. The worst we've encountered are Barber Pole worms and they are killers if left undetected or untreated. Sadly, many times there are symptoms, it is too late.
I think very cold helps control the mosquito population a bit but not even sure about that.
