Subject: Re: [CHICKENS-101] Need help with 1 year old hen
B12 IS NOT enough!!!!! Thiamine deficiency results in neuromuscular problems and lameness, weight loss, and other problems. The difficulty is that when you only feed a few b vitamins not the entire b complex you can create deficiencies in other b vitamins in the body. Holds true for people too. The feed can be deficient, a high mycotoxin contamination of the feed, ...something is creating the situation in this hen's body. If one is down you can consider it a warning flag and all should be supplemented. Basic Poultry Nutrition 101, I taught the class to 4-H leaders in the old days.
