I've tried shredded paper that came as "packing" material. My chickens
_hate_ it. They can't "scratch" through it the way they do with
shavings and/or straw. It just fluffs up into big hunks and doesn't
absorb anything very well. If If I cover it with shavings it kind of
works, will eventually absorb. But poo still clumps up in it rather
than getting scratched down into the deep litter content. So all in all
I don't like it. I'll use shredded paper as a layer in a compost
heap, but not with the chickens. Sara
