How do her eyes look? Is the wound dry with no feathers stuck in it? You are right to worry about her being in the warm while she recovers as it is getting cold out. Not much you can do until you are sure she is ok.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Update on Georgette, the hen that got bit by the dog yesterday
I think she'll survive this, but I'm not sure about reintroducing her outside. She was the last one, and she was the one who got picked on when she was new. She almost seems like she wants to go back out, but I'm pretty sure she's got way too much recuperating before we could let her back out. What about the "inside central heat" "outside late november in Upstate NY cold" factor. I'm just so new to this, and dang blame it, once you name them....

So I've got her in the "infirmary" which is usually our pantry. The sunlight is coming through the window, and it's warm and safe. She's in a very large dog crate. She's just looking out the window at her coop, and cooing like she wants to be outside. It seems like she's drinking water and she ate some of the nice mash I gave her this morning. She's on her feet, and clucks whenever someone comes near, especially the cats, but we're keeping everyone out of there to give her as little stress as possible.

They're all Red Star Hens. We don't have an outside option to separate them. We live in the city and have one of those sweet little (4-5 hen) coops out there.
