Sheli, I'd be careful with menthol and benzocaine and not use them. To make a long story short after insisting vivks is good for combs, et..., a judge told me my roosters had the skin on their combs burned by vicks. Now I am afraid to use it.
You can give her a baby aspirin once a day for pain and swelling. I give Wheaties my teeny serama with a too slow heart beat 1/2 a baby aspirin 2x a day. Make sure your girl has oyster shell available too in a separate dish along with grit in case she needs it. She may have a fracture. Keep the b with vitamins with trace minerals going to her. Add a bit of honey or sugar to get her to drink it.

She does stand to eat, and hops around, using her hurt leg just for balance, putting the least amount of weight on it. I can't ascertain where the injury is. I'm wondering if it is in the ligament or muscle, possibly one that goes down to the toes, because she doesn't want to clasp her toes. The "scuff" on her leg is close to the front of the leg between the knee and ankle joints. Good to know that pumpkin and squash are high in vitamins. I'll pick some up and the store today.
I was wondering, can liniment be used on chicken's limbs? Just had a thought it might help, but don't know if it might be poisonous to them or harmful in some way.

It's best to keep them together any way, encourages your girl to heal. Where is the injury on Speckles leg? At a joint or the solid bone? Speckles should be encouraged to move around some several times a day if her cage/box is small. If it is large where they can moved around, I'd put a treat down that will make her want to stand to eat. A bit of squash or pumpkin, something high high in vitamins.
