Sue, The oil is to seal the wood a one time deal and well worth the money. Keeps moisture, mites, et... from in the cracks in the wood, and lengthens the life of the wood. Two to three scoops of ground/crushed barn yard lime spread around with a broom goes far. I treat both wood floors in my baby barns with both.

Linseed oil and lime? Linseed oil is pricey (and certainly not necessary on treated wood) and that much lime would only be necessary if you were trying to dispose of an ex spouse in your crawl space ;)
