[CHICKENS-101] Re: Chicken "training" question...

yes... you are right.. it is two things... they learned to come out quick enough!!! ... but there was curiosity that got them to want to learn to go down that ramp... but many just wont go back up ... lol ..

I must say that the "chaos" created by catching them is getting easier each day... they are not as freaked by it ( which is good) ... and i have been setting them on the ramp close to the door and patting them on the behind saying "Bed!" ( which is the dogs command ) they usually quickly trot up the ramp once they see the treat inside...

last night I dangled a cantaloup rind out the hatch hoping they would see it and come running ... it was only mildly effective... I am hoping they will start to associate "Bed!" with "go inside get a treat" soon...

if it were warmer and no threat of rain we would have liked to see how many would have made their way back in naturally ..

It took repeated catching for us to get our youngsters inside too until they started following us inside to be fed. We had one group, our latest group, that didn't need caught. Not sure if they're just smarter or just watched the older chicks and learned.
