I guess I am a lucky one then. My porcelin has hatched three clutches in last year or so, with ducklings included, and have not lost a one from something she did. She is VERY protective and will go nuts on any of the others getting to close to them, and is quite funny hearing her 'sqouck' at them,lol.    But I've found Silkies to be great sitters and dreadful mothers. The two times I've let Silkies hatch eggs, I've had to remove the chicks to a brooder immediately for the reasons you mentioned. John in MI
