Wow - I didn't realize roosters took possession of certain hens! I don't have any roosters (I don't think - I do have one very aggressive chick who I have named "mean pecker" because she pecks me every time I stick my hand in the cage - she's the only one that does that - there is another chick that seems to be in charge though...) ...will the hens still be okay outside?

We have silver laced wyandottes and a mixed batch with an americuna rooster, 2 barred rock hens, 1 Rhode Island red, and one americuna hen. The silver lace wyandotte rooster is much better about keeping his girls together and watching over them. They also go back to the hen house to lay. The americuna lets his girls go all over the place and I'm pretty sure lay everywhere as I only found one egg in the house the day my DH let them out. We kept them penned up in the house area for weeks to get them used to the idea of going back to the house even though their previous owner free ranged them so they would be better about going back and laying there. Angelique
