If this is denning season for most creatures it would follow that taking food home to the nest would likely happen.

I'm sorry that happened. Do you have a place to shut them up at night? They would have been ok for 2 days closed up.

Sooo, I was gone from Saturday morning until about 4pm Sunday afternoon and apparently the chickens (who are free-rangeish) went out away from the area where they are kept (in by the dogs for protection) and something ate some of them. Henry-Bird, Annabelle, another EE, and the only silver-laced looking chicken I had, are gone :-(

I found feathers from an EE and feathers from the silver laced guy but no bodies or anything and I did a pretty thorough check around the area they were in.

We're in NW PA so we've got pretty much any predator that you could want (or not want) - hawks, bald eagles, coons, foxes, coyotes, etc...

Any ideas what would kill 4 chickens and not leave ANY bodies behind?? I mean, there weren't really even feathers left... a few small black feathers and about a dozen little white feathers.

Thanks for any ideas and ways to keep them away in the future!!
