I did not have a problem when my girls had their baby feeder. Since I put out the 2 gallon home-made feeder, I've got a squirrel that comes in and helps itself. (I've tried to get the girls into attack mode, but they are going to need professional "Schutz Huhn" training! LOL!)
I'm sure this has come up - and so far the only suggestion I got from my friend was "feed the squirrel separately!" But I can't afford to feed the umpteen squirrels in the neighborhood - we live in a wooded area...
And I can't run out every time. I'm going to become the crazy woman in the neighborhood who always comes streaking out of the house, flailing her arms screaming "Get it! Get it! ATTACK!!"
My pen is fenced top and sides w/2x4 welded wire fencing. I don't think adding a layer of chicken wire will help - unless I go ALL the way around the existing wire fencing (and I don't have the funds for that anyway.)
Any suggestions? I thought of leaving the feeder in the coop - but I don't want to invite the squirrels INSIDE! Or a pellet gun, but my aim isn't that great...
Thanks in advance!
Jen
