[CHICKENS-101] Did I give good advice?

Today, I went to visit some friends who have been raising chickens for about 2-3 years. I've only had mine for a few weeks, but I try to read up and research whenever I bring in a new species. One of their hens, an Americauna (they have no roos, and have had none for about a year) went broody about a week ago. She's actually sitting on some unfertilized RIR eggs, en her own. When I tried to remove all of the eggs, my friends begged me to leave one (after I explained that their hen was basically experiencing a "false pregnancy"), for fear of the hen's emotional well-being. Since my friends were reluctant for their hen to experience a "chicken miscarriage," I advised them to order a few fertilized eggs and slip them under her, for her to foster whatever hatches. Did I give correct/appropriate advice? Will she mother these "foster chicks," even if they aren't her breed? Lord, I hope so :)
