Birds eat all day off and on to maintain body heat. It is critical that they get water early, early in the morning, in the afternoon, and again at least an hour before dark. My birds eat early, then again in the afternoon, they fill up again about an hour - hour and half before dark. They need water to be able to digest their food. Cathryn

> Just this last week the heated water dish broke -- which means thier water is frozen solid in the morning. After reading this, I'm making it a point to get out there early and make sure they have water. Before now there was always water and food in thier coop 24/7.
