Thank you so much for replying. Interesting that you also have some rescues. First, you mentioned them being "de-beaked". We noticed that every single hen had very short beaks and wondered about disease, etc. But now that you mention the above, most likely they did that. Well, we will count our lucky stars if any live very long. We shall see.
As for the Roo. That in itself is very interesting. He was a fighting young roo. Had two bands on his legs. His comb was completely cut off for the fighting. He looks like a vulture in front because of it but otherwise he is very beautiful. He was rescued separately from a "fighting raid". He is the MOST friendliest Roo I've ever had. LOVES people because of being handled from the beginning. Although, we were WARNED to the max, not to ever have him around another Roo - which is not going to be a problem. He absolutely does not go after people, even strangers, and does not go after any other farm animal or the dogs. In fact he follows my hubby everywhere on the property. He is nice to the hens also.
