I have one 8-year-old rooster. My hens have died off. He is outside most days, foraging. When it rains, he holes up in the coop. Do I need to offer him some type of poultry feed, and if so, what kind?
I do give him household scraps occasionally -- breads, crackers, etc.
Someone told me that if he's foraging, he can get by on scratch (corn). Is that true, or does he need something else to supplement what he eats while foraging? I would think that he would get all the nutrition he needs when he forages for bugs and weeds and whatever else he eats out there.
Thanks.
