RE: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Novice Chicken mama

That is so sweet and I can just visualize them all.  My Border collie stares at my free ranging house chickens and never bothers them, but let just ONE Guinea sound off and she spazzes out and I wouldn’t trust her near any of them.  I am sure it is the noise………she just can’t tolerate it and wants to make it stop!  Our fences have her chew marks in all of them, trying to get to those Guineas

She just watches chicks.  Doesn’t seem to mind their peeping noises, but I don’t trust her unsupervised around any of them!

Back when we had 2dozen chicks under the sink our dog was really interested in them. About the size and shape of a dalmatian she would hang over their box and watch them for hours. Of course they got out, a mass escape. That's when we learned about covering the brooder with a screen. When we discovered it the chicks were all huddled around the dog. climbing on her paws, trying to get under her and in general having a grand time. We figured the chicks thought the dog was some kind of God. The dog must of thought they were hers, whatever they were. She never harmed them. Who would have thunk.
