[CHICKENS-101] Eggs

Hi ya Cath & all others who might have a clue!
I have just been on a link of our website to check out about egg bound chooks. I suspect one of mine is.

Day before yesterday I took a large bowl of treats out for the girls they all came running out except this one.
Could not see her anywhere. After allerting my dh & both of us searching she turned up snuggled down under a bush directly in front of where I had put the treats.
She looked all puffed up.
She is usually top dog & first in the scrum for treats.
I PICKED HER UP & PLACED HER RIGHT WHERE THE TREATS WERE, SHE IGNORED THEM & WALKED OFF (sorry caps locked that lot by accident)
She waddled strangely so I looked closely & where she is still going through a partial mault her butt end is featherless at mo, skin looks slightly red, & she looked like she had 1 or 2 eggs waiting to come out.

I picked her up & put her in the A-frame coop to give her a bit of privacy.
She did not attempt to come straight out so I left her to lay.
She must have layed as later she was out & mooching about & I looked in the aframe & there were 2 soft shelled eggs in there. 1 actually looked like it had another tiny (smaller than quail) eggs attached to it (soft shell too) Yesterday she was fine all day eating normally walking & running normally, still a bit like she has an egg waiting.
Today she was eating fine getting in the scrum for worms (me overturning stones for them) still a bit like 1/2 eggs waiting to come out. Just now put her in a frame with sardines just for her. She came straight out, didn't want to know.

I am now thinking this is getting serious so went on our forum & got to the section where it says 'egg binding'

Now if this is what she has got & If I manage to do what the instructions say(Lubricate around & inside her vent) (which I have never had experience with) What is the liklihood of it helping & is it not likely to keep re-curring once she has started the prob? & if so is it kinder to put her out of her misery now or will she not suffer too much even if this did happen again.
Has any one had to deal with this before & if so was it successful? Many thanks Jane & co
