This is something I was thinking about the other day. My neighbor mows my yard, but had let it go until I got the winter mess cleaned up. (That's another e-mail.) When he did mow it, I think every bird in the neighborhood came by to eat whatever was in there. Seeds, bugs, whatever.
I have an idea percolating involving a chicken tractor and mowing the yard, but you folks know more about this than I do. Rather than throw the seed in there, would it be best use of everyone's abilities to mow, then move the tractor there for a day or so? If you have enough land, might that be a good pest control?
I'm not saying this right, but I've got this idea on the fringes of my brain. Can anyone speak to this?
Debbie
I use regular hay for my nesting boxes; when I change the hay out; I just toss it out into the pen; the birds comb it for any seeds left there....
