Ray, Thanks so much for posting the link! I actually stayed at the Tambopata Research Center (then run by Dr. Donald Brightsmith) for two weeks with Earthwatch. We were volunteers observing the macaws on the clay licks, as well as at their nest sites. It's a spectacular location. 9 hous by boat from the nearest city. Also, very fluid landscape. It rained heavily in the Andes while we were there and the river rose over 20 feet in a few hours. Full-grown trees were washed away like toothpicks. Amazing.
I was also covered in bug bites like Destin ;) and some of the bugs there look like creatures from a Tim Burton movie...so bizarre.
I loved the experience and I'd love to go back.
