that is great that you can do that with out a bit of commercial food. I feed organic but it is considered commercial because I have to buy it. I live in the suburbs and have to buy for my chickens but I use the recipe from "daily eggs" she has I think a very healthy mix for her chickens and that is what I do. I would congrat you on your chickens they sound healthy and happy. We do need to validate others because I am sure we are all doing our best to have healthy and happy chickens! Paula in Az

I agree. We tend to forget the the Animal Feed Industry is post WW2 - dog food, pellets, etc. If one does a bit of research they discover that those commercial foods include stuff they may not want to eat - or want their animals eating.
My hens are healthy and happy. Their eyes are bright, their comb colors deep, their feathers glisten even on cloudy days. They lay beautiful eggs with strong shells and deeply colored yolks that I will gladly send off to any lab for comparison if anyone wants to cover the costs.
All this with never a single pellet nor other bit of commercial feed.
Imagine that!
