Beth, What do they eat everyday? Do they have oyster shell on the side?

My husband and I are new at being chicken "parents". We bought 12 hen and 1 rooster (all chicks) 3 years ago. We lost 5 hens since then and have no understanding as to why. They would be well one day and dead the next. If they had shown signs of being sick it wouldn't have been such a shock. I love my hens and the rooster.......not so much. LOL. I can't believe that all the girls became egg bound. Any ideas? Thanks. Beth
