That was a good answer Charlene, you made me laugh! Here's another "Us chickens were talking about things other than chickens....."Only now we are talking turkey, as in wild turkey in Michigan. I wonder if the incidents with people and wild turkeys are wild turkeys raised in captivity and released. Wild turkeys have strong survival instincts, and there sure seem to be many turkey incidents that counter that survival instinct.
The Lansing police dept has had "Enough Already!" with the turkey below. The turkey even has it's own wanted poster. LOL!

[CHICKENS-101] The Girls have arrived!

 

At last the three bantam chicks have arrived.Today they were delivered,house and all.I have a jealous dog but that should subside in time.They're so cute and only 6 weeks old.Will post photos as I remember!

[CHICKENS-101] Help - No Eggs!

 

We have 12 hens. We were getting about 8 or 9 eggs a day. Once we had a time change and had more dark hours, egg production has gradually dropped off to nothing. We’ve had 4 days now that we have gotten no eggs. We’ve added lights in the hen house to increase the light hours to around 16 hours a day. Any ideas on what we can do or what’s going on?

[CHICKENS-101] Show chicks

 

Our show chicks were picked up today!!!!!!! They are day olds, and I think they said they were Cornish Rock Crosses.  We have six of them and the metal validation tag looks SO big on them! They are drinking and eating good.  I think I'm more excited than my son is and that's a hard one to beat!!!!!!!!!

Awe you guys are too kind, way to kind,,,,I don't know if any of you caught this and I just noticed it myself at the beginning of the video you can hear my jack Russell terrier growling, I guess he wanted to be a piece of the action. Lol.all my animals want to be stars HAHAHAHA...

He was growling because he didn't want me messing with jack, he does it every time I go close to him. I think it maybe a jealous thing... I usually have to kick him out of the room because sometimes he gets too protective.

Fairbanks AK gets that cold but on the coast where anchorage is located we are not so cold. The coldest so far is 8 degree this winter. Amazingly we haven't had much snow this year. I go from my heated garage to the heated garage at work.

Hi jennifer. I have a few going through maulting too. I am in wiltshire, uk. Where abouts are you? 
I do feed mine a mixture of Wholemeal bread, Cooked rice, cooked spaghetti, maybe some cooked & mashed eggs & some times sardines all mixed in then final touch porridge (cooked or uncooked) all ,mixed in thoroughly. They love it. Plus extra veg they nick from the compost.
They have that once or twice a week depending on the severity of weather.
I have 30 chooks at the mo, & we are only getting 3 to 6 eggs a day. We have a few large hybrid old timers laying very irregularily.
Some bantams from last year laying infrequently & this years new gals just starting to lay.
You will find that they lay a lot less in winter because of the shorter day light hours.
Some people like to install a light to give them extra hours of light so the laying does not decrease.
I like to give ours a rest, according to nature. 
My freind who has 16 chooks had to buy her eggs this week. We are just about getting enough to keep us in eggs for a week at a time.

Brinsea posts that there is a 20% stocking fee on their web site. I read about your being unhappy on HatchingEggsForSale. It's a bummer when things don't work out like we'd like them too.
