I just went through this. In fact, my flock moved to the neighbors. So after getting them back and locking them up for a week, I only let them out late afternoon. I cut the feed back and fed them about an hour before dusk. Only took a week and now they are coming in looking for food at that time. I also use a treat such as a watermelon in the pen if I need to get their attention earlier.
Good luck!

Now, I am letting the out around 12:00-12:30 (I have some late layers) and then calling them in with feed and scratch about a hour before dusk. I would prefer to leave layer pellets in a 30# feeder all day and call them in with a little scratch, but I have found when leaving the feeder out all day they won't come when called because they are stuffed. Any suggestions to get them to return to the coop?
