Angela, She is not a very good friend and she is jealous of all of the work you have done for your chickens. Her letting domestic rabbits go in the wild is beyond lazy and stupid; she is too lazy to provide proper pens and housing. It sounds like she is taking her conscience out on you. You are responsible, have done a lot of work to protect your poultry, and are to be commended for building such a large pen. If she ever says anything again, I'd let her know that she shouldn't take her guilt for not caring for her animals properly out on you!!!!

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] a little rant
Hi, I don't post often but I think I will this time. Maybe somebody smarter than me might have an opinion. I have 12 chickens and 1 duck. The enclosed area is about 50' by 100', the coop is about 10by 10. They get fresh water everyday plenty of chicken food and leftovers. A friend of mine was over today and looking at the animals. She started telling me how sorry she felt for the chickens being kept in a cage like that. Animals should allowed to be free not cooped up. The duck is a rescue. She had a mangled wing and injured foot. The man who had her was just going to kill her and throw her away. My daughter took her and nursed her back to health. My friend accused me of not taking good enough care of our animals! I should let them loose in the wild, she did that to her kids rabbits. I was fuming. I don't know how to defend myself or if I should even try. But I can say I do everything I can to make sure our animals are well cared for and have plenty of room to roam. Thanks for reading this and letting me vent. Angela
