I have found that the quickest and easiest way to help prepare my pens for spring cleaning is to advertise free fertilizer  on Craig's list.  People from around our small town come over with shovels and bags and boxes and clean out the pens!   Works for all of us and I get to show off my chickens and talk to new people.    Susan

            Perhaps you'd rather hear
about the sale of manure……..yeah, chicken sh*t. 
            Does anyone else sell their
manure?  We have composted alpaca & goat and horse & chicken.  We keep
them separate to allow the horse and chicken to break down.  The alpaca and
goat manure aren't considered hot and can be put down anytime, but the other
needs to compost, otherwise it burns.
 
            Is that better?
